CAPSU Merchandise 2023

In my role as the Director of Public Relations for the Cornell Asian Pacific Student Union, the university's umbrella organization for its vibrant APID/A community, I had the honor of designing our 2023 merchandise line.

This design draws inspiration from the abstract geometric blocks that flourished during the mid-century era. At the heart of this artistic creation lies CAPSU's cherished motif — an umbrella — depicted within the top left square, representing the unity and connection the organization provides to the Cornell community.

My challenge was to elegantly infuse CAPSU's iconic yellow hue into the artwork, while ensuring a harmonious and balanced composition. To achieve this, I incorporated the striking CAPSU yellow strategically, avoiding an overwhelming dominance of the color. Instead, the design showcases an interplay of pink motifs symbolizing the ethereal beauty of cherry blossoms, lending a touch of grace and cultural significance to the piece.

In the bottom right square, I weaved the CAPSU yellow with the letter "C," representing both CAPSU and Cornell, signifying their profound interconnectedness. This fusion embodies the partnership and collaboration between the two entities, demonstrating the shared mission to foster an inclusive and empowering environment for all.

Each element of the design was thoughtfully crafted to strike a balance between boldness and subtlety. It is a celebration of heritage and modernity, encapsulating CAPSU's essence and representing the unity that binds Cornell's APID/A community together in their pursuit of knowledge, culture, and shared goals.
